TravelScoot Troubleshooting Guide

Is your TravelScoot acting up? Follow these steps in order to identify and fix the issue.

Part 1: Check the Battery

  • Is it plugged in?
  • Is it plugged in all the way?
  • If you see lights on your throttle, skip to Part 2.

Charge the Battery

  • Two solid red lights: Charging normally
  • One red and one green: Fully charged
  • False green: May indicate a bad charger or an aging battery
  • Flashing lights: Problem with battery or charger
  • Learn how to check the battery's voltage — a good battery should read at least 25.5 volts
  • If the charger is okay, the issue may lie in the circuit board, fuse, or a bad battery cell

Common Battery Issues

  • Lack of regular charging: Charge after each use or at least every 6 months
  • External damage: Check terminals and AMP connector

Part 2: Check the Electronics

  • Inspect the throttle, on/off switch, and controller — ensure they’re securely connected

Junction Box (Deluxe only)

  • Remove the Junction Box cover
  • For Escape/Cruiser: wires are accessible from the back
  • Disconnect and inspect the throttle/on-off from the controller
  • Look for corrosion, clean and reconnect

Check for Intermittent Wiring Issues

  • Check for intermittent issues
  • Move the wiring along the steering column to locate loose or broken spots
  • Have a partner test the throttle if power flickers during movement

Check the Controller

  • Escape version, Deluxe version
  • Tip scooter to the right, rotate left wheel — cogging or resistance may mean the controller is bad
  • Unplug battery/controller and recheck smoothness of rotation
  • Reconnect carefully, aligning arrow marks to avoid damaging pins
