Simple replacement choice

Works with every TravelScoot model

Both batteries are compatible with every TravelScoot model, so you do not need to identify a scooter model before choosing a replacement battery.

Some original Escape scooters with the smaller battery tray may require the auxiliary battery tray. Owners of older belt-drive scooters with a red battery connector require Adapter B.

What changes—and what does not

Capacity affects range, not speed

Think of the battery as the scooter’s fuel tank. A higher-capacity battery lets the scooter travel farther between charges.

Changing battery capacity does not increase the scooter’s speed or motor performance.

Traveling by passenger aircraft

Flying with an AirSafe battery

Lithium-ion-powered mobility devices are handled under airline dangerous-goods rules. The AirSafe battery is designed for airline travel, but airline procedures can vary.

Contact your airline before departure, tell them you are traveling with a mobility scooter, and bring the battery documentation supplied by TravelScoot.

Different rules apply to packages

Shipping lithium-ion batteries

Flying with a mobility device and shipping a battery as a package are not the same process.

Lithium-ion batteries are regulated as dangerous goods. Shipping requirements depend on battery capacity, package contents, quantity, total weight, carrier, and whether transportation is by ground or air.

Packages containing lithium-ion batteries require the correct markings and documentation. Higher-capacity batteries can also require dangerous-goods handling and surcharges.

Do not mail or ship a TravelScoot battery without first confirming the carrier’s current requirements. Contact TravelScoot USA if you need help arranging a battery shipment.

Common battery questions

Do I need to know my TravelScoot model before ordering?

No. Both batteries currently sold by TravelScoot USA function with all TravelScoot models. Some older scooters may require the appropriate tray or connector adapter.

Which battery should I choose if I fly?

Choose the 252Wh AirSafe battery. The 603Wh Max Range battery is not approved for airline travel.

Will the Max Range battery make my scooter faster?

No. Its advantage is range. It has 2.4 times the capacity of the AirSafe battery but does not increase scooter speed.

Can I use a non-TravelScoot charger?

Use a genuine TravelScoot lithium-ion charger designed for the battery. Using unsuitable charging equipment can damage the battery and may affect warranty coverage.

Ready to order a battery?

Choose AirSafe if you fly. Choose Max Range if you want 2.4 times the capacity and do not need airline approval.
